Like to know more about the potential of Trenchless Solutions including Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) or Microtunnelling?
Do you have a project that you need assistance with in planning?
Shore Crossings constructed by HDD eliminate the need to disturb the coastal environment and work in shallow surf zones, enabling the construction to be completed without damaging the environment and allowing the pipeline to be buried deeper below the foreshore avoiding potential scour and exposure.
In some cases the pipeline can be fabricated onshore and pushed into the borehole avoiding the additional cost of mobilising expensive marine support vessels. Our managers and crews have worked on many HDD Shore Crossing projects in various ground and environmental conditions.
SHORE CROSSINGS ARE OUR SPECIALTY
Directhitt has completed several HDD Shore Crossings across Australia from the Western to Eastern Seaboards.
HDD Shore
Crossings
HDD is used for the installation of pipelines and conduits beneath rivers, highways, railroads and other environmentally sensitive areas, such as Shore Crossings where pipelines cross sensitive marine areas.
During the HDD process, a small diameter pilot hole is first drilled along a predetermined path. The pilot hole is then enlarged in single or multiple steps (reaming passes) to accommodate the pullback of the pipeline or conduit into the borehole.
Directhitt operate rigs capable of completing projects both large and small with pipe sizes up to 1500mm in diameter and HDD lengths over 4,000m now available due to improvements in technology using HDD Intersect technology.
HDD IS IN OUR DNA
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a trenchless method of installing pipelines and conduits in the areas where excavations are not feasible or not effective due to environmental constraints.
Horizontal
Directional Drilling
Like HDD, Pilot tubes are installed first with a high degree of accuracy as required for gravity flow sewers, then employing features of other trenchless technologies such as microtunneling, auger boring or horizontal directional drilling the borehole can be enlarged to install a variety of pipe sizes. The compact units can be set up in relatively small shafts no less than 3m.
